Wheelbarrow Man David took part in the Perth Marathon (State Championship) today without his beloved wheelbarrow (due to the number of runners), and despite cramps in his left leg, managed to finish the 42km run in 3 hours and 25 minutes.
Conditions were near perfect with temperatures of 19c, a flat course and hardly any wind.
After the event David was presented with an album full of pictures of his two runs, The Run Across Australia and The Outback Challenge put together by Masters runner Elaine Dance. It must have taken Elaine months to compile and it was filled with many inspiring messages. David and Jo were very touched.
Prior to the start of the relay Jo was forced to alter her initial 15km run leg to to a shorter 9.3km leg because of a niggling knee injury, but all went well and she ran well thanks to the support of the other three members of the Petite 4′s, Margaret Bennett and Brian Smith.
