At 7.15am Monday 28th David and fellow Masters Athletics runner, Brian Bennett were given a tremendous sendoff by Masters Athletics runners and walkers who had camped the long weekend at Lewana Cottages.
Keen to see that David and Brian got off to a good start the 20+ runners ran and biked with David and Brian for five to ten kilometres with some (Dr John Bell and Jennifer), going the 16kms to Balingup where they stopped for a well earned break.
The highlight of the start was 80+ year old Merv Moyle taking the barrow and walking it down onto the road. Unfortunately due to a misunderstanding, the Ballingup support group who gathered in Balingup to cheer David and Brian, missed then by only 15 minutes. We sincerely thank them for their efforts.
David and Brian pulled up at 3pm 5ms north of Donnybrook after having completed 53kms. Like David on his run across Australia, Brian felt some discomfort at the base of his feet (particularly the ball of his foot)
Tuesday 29.9.9
Despite threatening rain and cold, David and Brian have been running well taking turns sharing the barrow and have past through Boyanup Brook covering 10kms in 1hr 20 minutes. They didn’t stop for a break for fear of seizing up in the cold as it is only 6c here. They are planning to finish the day at Australind.
For those who knew Margaret had a fall over the weekend, she is feeling fine but has decided to have a Dr check her injured knee and change the bandages in Donnybrook. She is still there now so I will update you when she comes back.

Margaret has seen the Doctor and her knee has been cleaned and bandaged. She may have to take antibiotics but is going to wait another day before doing so.
David and Brian have endured another heavy shower and are now near Eaton on the Bypass road. They have done 35kms and will be doing another 15kms before the end of the day finishing around 3.30pm. We have had a change of plans and they are now going to keep to Old Coast Road until Mandurah when they will then use to cycleway alongside of the new highway.
