Since our last blog we have had some problems with the electrics on our van so we had to make a detour into Karratha to get it fixed. Fortunately we were personally looked after by Brian at Karratha Contracting who had the problem solved in no time. It was a big relief.
So we decided to stay an another day and have a look around Karratha and Dampier which was a surprise to see new housing subdivisions under construction. We have also learn’t that local girl and “train driver”Tennile is vying for Australian Idol.
Seeing all the mining activity here has David wishing he had worked in Karratha instead of Blackwater.
When in Port Hedland we took a short drive (400km round trip) to Marble Bar not expecting to see much but were surprised when we drove through picturesque Coongan Gorge on the way in and some lovely waterholes/lakes outside the town. As you can see by the wildflower pictures they are now out in bloom.
The pictures below are of Broome, Roebuck Bay Broome, Marble Bar and Karratha.
