Hello everyone
Thank you for your messages of support. This is the first time we have had access to the internet and it is from a paid internet site which doesn’t allow pictures to be attached.
On a countdown of ten by Mayor Damien Ryan, Wheelbarrow Man David Baird ran down the Todd Mall escorted by six Prostate and Bosom Buddies pushing wheelbarrows and a spruiker behind announcing the event and collecting donations for Prostate and Breast Cancer.
Now into his seventh day, David is hoping to be 20kms west of Curtin Springs Roadhouse (368kms from Alice) by the end of Thursday May 7, and at Uluru Saturday May 9, 2009.
The impact of seven days running with a barrow is causing concern with shin splints that started late yesterday. We have iced and eleviated the injury hoping that it will be better today but have decided to cut back the kilometres today.
For those who followed David’s Wheelbarrow Across Australia Run earlier this year, you will know about his amazing feet when he ran 56kms from Iron Knob into Port Augusta.
In this challenge David has set himself a target to run into Alice Springs in under 21 days. To do this he has set a high daily average of 53kms per day, which is no small feat (excuse the pun) considering the difficulty of running with a wheelbarrow.
So far he has been averaging 54kms per day
Support for this challenge has been fantastic and to date David has collected $1300 for Prostate and Breast Cancer from donations at the start and along the way. David finds it very motivating when the public get behind him and toot when they pass or pull over and throw money into his barrow.
Unfortunately, with the excitement last Friday at the start in the Todd Mall, precious photos taken that morning were lost when the Digital Cannon Camera was mislaid.

Well done David your doing awesome!!! and well done to Jo for still putting up with David’s crazy adventures!!!
I think Mum is feeling the pressure of having such a legend as a brother now – shes walking her first marathon in June (from Winchester to Salisbury cathedral).
Were all still enjoying keeping up to date with your adventures! Even though friends are starting to realise which side of the family my nuttyness streak comes from!!
Stay safe.
Love Maria, Martin & Bump xx
Hi Maria
Good to hear from you and to hear that you are keeping well. Tell Mum we think she is awesome doing the marathon
Being nutty does explain a lot! I find when I tell people he’s crazy, they nod in an understanding way.
Love Jo and David x
