Yesterday was the first break Dave has had since the start of the run fourteen weeks ago.
Dave did 29kms so we were able to finish at 1pm and then relax at the caravan park for the rest of the day.
It is now 8.55am and Dave has been out running for nearly two hours.
We are 15kms away from McDonald’s in Gundagai (as the sign keeps reminding me) on the Hume Highway in cooler conditions than yesterday.
Despite being Boxing Day the highway is still busy and off road parking is scarce which means Dave is running longer to reach the support vehicle. Parked in front of me is a van selling delicious sweet cherries which is doing a roaring trade. So in fear of there not being any cherries left I purchased some.
The man selling the cherries is George Eyre who works on a cherry farm nearby. George sells cherries this time of the year to fund his newspaper “Smile Times- Smile and give your world a rest” and is filled with local good news stories.
George distributes his paper to local farmers himself. What a legend. Listen to George here.
