888kms to go to Sydney

From our calculations we have 888kms to go before Dave gets to Sydney.

Yesterday the wind, rain and traffic were so bad  we contemplated taking another less busy route to Hay, but were advised that the alternative route is unsealed.

Dave is now 8kms out of  Balranald on the Sturt Highway heading towards Hay.

It will take us three days to get Hay with Dave running an average of 40kms a day.  The scenery along the route is bleak.  Some tell us the Nullarbor is more interesting!

Judging by the high winds today we are in for a windy 133km crossing.

Hi Lyds, Nick Cameron, William, Daniel and ???

Dad understands Lyds that it would be too difficult for you all to come.

By keeping in touch as you do is great and he really loves it.

    Hi David

Congratulations on your progress so far. I’m sure you’ll have no trouble making it to Sydney now that you’re within 1000kms.

My parents drove over to WA (from Taree, NSW) and first saw you out of Kimba. I joined them a week or so later for the return journey (to Sydney) and we saw you outside of Euston.

I was in WA to compete in the Ironman in Busselton. It’s an endurance event, but nothing compared to what you’ve been doing. I hoped you’ve enjoyed the amazing experience and are successful in achieving your fundraising goal.

    All the best!

    Kylie

Thank you for your email Kylie

David competed in the Iron Man competitions many years ago in Queensland.

His best was winning the Queensland Biathlon Series at 48.

Keep up the good work, who knows you may end up pushing a barrow yet.

    Have a lovely Christmas
