When Jo and Dave are unable to connect to the internet, they phone, when they have the opportunity, to update us on their progress.
Dave is having a few problems with his feet – his left foot in particular. In order to face the oncoming traffic, he is running on the right hand side of the road, and because of the heat, tends to run on the road shoulder rather than the tarmac. The trade-off is that he is therefore running on a surface that slopes down from left to right, which is less than ideal for a comfortable gait! Otherwise, he is in excellent spirits, and enjoying the mental side of the challenge.
But the big news is that, having stopped for the day 10 kilometres short of Belladonia, Dave has travelled 993km from his start in Cottesloe, in a mere 26 days – a whole week ahead of schedule!
Unfortunately, because the phone call ended before we could make that calculation, it is possible that Jo and Dave are unaware of this milestone.
So, if you are sleeping in, or did sleep in, on the morning of Saturday 18 October, just be aware that while you slumbered, out on the western edge of the Nullarbor Plain, Dave was passing the 1000km mark of this journey!

Well done Dad, a quarter of the way there. Take it steady and know that we are thinking of you every day. All is well here and the boys send their love xxx
