Hello from Cunderdin

We are staying in Cunderdin for two days. We finished 10 km from Cunderdin on Thursday (25 September) and will finish in Tammin tonight (Friday) then go back to Cunderdin for the night.

We can see that it has been raining in Perth as it has here. The farmers are happy, but it is not so good for David. In fact yesterday was awful. It rained all day and David almost finished his run tragically when a truck attempting to overtake another vehicle didn’t see him. When David was spotted by the driver, he blasted his horn, which gave David just enough time to turn and head bush. Even the fluoro yellow cape David is wearing didn’t help him here.

Cunderdin is a very pretty town and has a great looking Ettamogah Pub. We have met some lovely people who belong to the Jayco 4WD club and are heading to a farm in Kellerberrin, then over to Kulin for a big race meet. They think they will double the number of people in Kulin with their arrival!

Back to David …he’s having a little trouble with the ball of his right foot but is not worried as he is expecting the body to adjust to the new workload. He is using a product called fixamol and toe spacers to manage the situation.

I am using the parking laybys which are usually 10 km apart to park up and wait for David. He reckons he puts in another 1–2 km each day heading bush each time a truck goes past. David is also having to contend with the hood of his yellow cape being blown off and up each time a truck comes past.

The wet weather won’t last much longer as we go into October. I’m sure we will regret thinking that the rain is a pain.

Our mobiles are starting to drop out more regularly so we are using the two-way to keep in touch.

G’day Dad and Jo, How ironic you’ve got rain and we’ve had lovely sunshine for two weeks, you’ll have to run push your wheelbarrow the length of England for your next challenge( if your feet survive this one) We are all following your progress and it sounds like a great adventure, keep it up xx

    Hi David and Jo,

We stopped and had a chat to Dave on the side of the road on our way out to Kalgoorlie for the weekend. We think what you are doing is awesome and have told all our friends about it.
Wishing you the best of luck and SAFE travels!
