Dave finished 14 km short of Meckering today, which is where an earthquake struck in 1968. It has been a hot day with strong winds, and thankfully the wind was at his back during the afternoon. He continues to run toward the traffic to avoid the stones thrown up by passing trucks.
People have been stopping every day to donate money, and Dave received a visit from some more wonderful members of Masters Athletics.
Tonight we’ll be staying again in Northam and trying to sort out computer troubles which prevent us from getting an Internet connection. It looks like we will be without the Internet until Friday at this stage.

There once was an old man who lived on the edge of the border between two countries. Everyday he would cross the border with his wheelbarrow filled with odds and ends, and everyday the guard KNEW that the old man was smuggling something, but could never find out what it was. On the guards last day on the job, he was having a drink with the old man, and he finally just asked, “What have you been smuggling all these years, friend?” And the old man finally replied,”WHEELBARROWS.”
Keep on keeping on Uncle Dave – following your progress – still lookin good. Verne etc xxxx
