After a wonderful speech by Dr John Bell and the support of up to 60 family, friends and runners, David finally sent off to a huge cheer from Cottesloe Beach at 8.30 am. Once out of the shelter of the Indiana Tea House it was very different. It was cold, wet and very, very windy.
Five runners took off with Dave to help him get off to a good start. At Mends Street Dave and fellow runner Brian Bennett had to take shelter from the heavy rain because they couldn’t see one another. Along the route people cheered Dave on by tooting their car horns and pulling over to make a donation.
Despite the shocking weather Dave finished the day in good form and finished outside Bunnings in Midland.
Tonight he is resting in a lovely caravan park – Perth Holiday Park which we highly recommend.
Tomorrow Dave is aiming to finish at Bakers Hill which is halfway between Midland and Northam so we have decided come back to Midland for the second night.

All looks good. Smile. Funny about the rain. I hope that it does not make the wheelbarrow go rusty!!! Will keep looking on site.
Well Done Dad. Go for it.
All best Jo. xx
